Lacombe County is constructing a boat trailer parking lot north of Sunbreaker Cove for users of the county boat launch on the lake shore. The project is an opportunity to monitor silt and associated nutrient transport from the agricultural land down the surface drainage into Sylvan Lake. The following slideshow illustrates the concern of the SLWSS about nutrient transport processes and the need for state of the art construction methods to minimize the cumulative effects of land use changes.
The temporary silt fence was extended by the construction team after its effectiveness was questioned by a Sunbreaker Cove resident.
Note that the roadside trench is for installation of a gas pipeline and is not related directly to the parking lot.
