Save Sylvan Lake – Get an Electric Boat

John Cameron of Red Deer, once a partner in Cameron and Weir Greenhouses of Sylvan Lake,  has launched his 14-foot micro tugboat “CANDUET” that is receiving lots of attention by marina watchers. The wooden tugboat, a design of Berkeley-Engineering, required hundreds of hours to build. It is powered with a 36 volt golfcart electric motor and six 6 volt deep-cycle batteries. John is helping to save Sylvan Lake by cruising around at 5-6 knots without the usual powerboat exhaust.

You can expand the tugboat fleet and join CANDUET by building your own boat from plans, or by having an aluminum version built by Dearden Marine of Gibson’s BC See the outboard-powered version here.
